The island’s northern Atlantic side is concentrating the majority of tourist attractions, hotels and resorts at 40 miles distance between Puerto Plata and Cabarete. The first monuments on the American continent are featured in the South in Santo Domingo: first cathedral, hospital, university, chapel and others. This is the capital of the country and despite the frantic pace of life here, Santo Domingo is a pleasant city especially where colonial-era buildings are concentrated. History buffs shouldn’t miss the Alcazazar de Colon (a castle dating from 1500), Casa del Cordon, Catedral Menor de Santa Maria. Major resort areas are Cabarete and Puerto Plata. The tourism sector evolved a lot during the last 20 years. Our website offers lodging opportunities in Santo Domingo as well as in other towns like: Cabarete, Ochoa and Cabrera.
