The house has tiled floors throughout and is furnished in French style. Electric convector heaters provide warmth in the cooler months. Parking is available “on street” outside of the house.

Our house, for four persons, is situated in the medieval city (La Cite), just under the towering walls of the Cite Medievale (a World Heritage site) and 15 minutes from Carcassonne Airport. It is a typical French town house in a street of terraced houses. There are cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. There is also free local transport between La Cite, nearby, and Bastide St Louis during the main tourist season.
There are daily flights by Ryanair from Stansted, UK to Carcassonne and Montpelier; also from Brussels to Carcassonne. In addition, there are flights by British European, British Airways and Air France to Toulouse and Montpellier from London Heathrow and Regional Airports such as Birmingham.

Carcassonne is a town of about 45,000 inhabitants in the Region of Languedoc Roussillon, on the River Aude and Canal du Midi. There are cafes, restaurants, shops and markets. There is also free local transport between La Cite, nearby, and Bastide St Louis during the main tourist season.

CARCASSONNE
Located at the heart of the Toulouse-Montpellier-Barcelona triangle, at the crossroads of two major traffic roads dating back to the most ancient times, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, from the Cévennes to the Pyrénées mountain range where the Aude has its source, Carcassonne blooms in the plains of the lower valley, inviting you to walk in and out of its streets. Discover its history, its local cuisine, its wines, or simply enjoy the scenery.

From the Bastide Saint-Louis to the medieval Walled City, Carcassonne offers a wealth of monuments to visit and discover!

You can take a leisurely stroll along the streets and be charmed by the buildings and the people you'll meet along the way; or you can be accompanied by the interpretive guides from the Tourist Office, who are intent on restoring the memory of their city.

The Suburb Trivalle

The only pathway leading from the Bastide Saint-Louis to the City is the winding road, carved in stone improved by man, with a history of more than 2000years: “LA RUE TRIVALLE”. Since it was constructed, this artery has seen the changing of populations, a haven where Wisgoths, Romans, Saracens, Italians, Spaniards, and Spanish gypsies have crossed paths. It’s most beautiful houses date from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, such as the Hotel Pelletier and the Maison Montmorrency.....Behind each building, nestling in the heart of courtyards and gardens, are eighteenth century charterhouses. A popular quarter, artistic and charming, always ready to meet amongst friends, to finish with the song “A quela Trivalla....”

SOUTH WEST FRANCE
This area of France provides a multitude of activities and places to visit. There are the historic towns of Toulouse, Beziers, Castelnaudry, Pezanas, Montpellier, Nimes, Narbonne plus the many medieval and hill top villages. The wine, fruit and many local festivals are waiting for you. In the winter, there is skiing in the Ariege and Pyrenees with the nearest ski resort about 1 ½ hours drive. Walking and climbing in the mountains, winter and summer, is an alternative.

For those who like the sun, sand and sea, there are many resorts near Narbonne about 1 hours drive away. There you can also enjoy fish and shell fish meals at very reasonable prices.

There are many places to visit in the area, apart from Carcassonne which is a “must”, including Beziers, Pezanas (for antiques), Perpignan, Montpellier, the vineyards of Minervois and Corbierres, the Montagne Noir (30 minutes away), the Pyrenees of the Ariege and Andorra (for skiing, walking and climbing), and of course the beach is less than one hour away at Narbonne, to name just a few places.
